The Afterlife
The Egyptians believed if you were worthy, after you died you would travel on a boat to the after life and stay with the gods. To be able to stay with the gods though, you would need means to keep you alive , such as food and water, which were buried with the dead. The Egyptians mummified the bodies of the dead, so the souls could visit and collect offerings from love ones.
Mummification
To make sure the souls of the dead had a body to come back to, to receive offerings, the Egyptians cured the body in salt water, dried it out , rapped them, and placed them in sealed clay caskets. These bodies were buried in the ground, or in pyramids, which served as ancient tombs.
