Taoism
Origin
Taoism was started in China about 550 BCE. It's stroungly connected to the writing Tao Te Ching written by Lao Tzu 3-4BCE.
Today
Taoism is now mostly practiced in East Asia and mostly in Taiwan.
Symbols
Ying-yan symbolizes balance in nature.
The character Tao, means way or path.
The dragons and tigers symbolize protectors or guardians and is usually put in places to protect them, like a gargoyles.
Ursa Major(sometimes called the Big Dipper) was thought to be a superior being, a deity.
